               Nashville, TN
Seth Harry and Associates, Inc. was asked by the Planning Director for Metro Nashville, to assist a local developer in generating a master plan for a rural area close to downtown Nashville, whose development potential would be dramatically impacted by a proposed new bridge crossing the Cumberland River.
The resulting plan envisioned a network of discreet hamlets and villages, sensitively sited with respect to view-sheds, wildlife corridors, and topography. Working to the developer’s entitlement objectives with regard to overall unit count, SHA was able to meet those goals through the thoughtful use of urban form and unique building types, while evoking the traditional patterns of rural settlements.
Critical aspects of the plan included habitat corridor preservation, protection of critical watersheds and steep slopes, and point-source storm water management and comprehensive SWM best-practices techniques.
